Here’s a creamy, classic American-style macaroni and cheese recipe, perfect for Veterans Day. This dish combines rich cheddar and a hint of spice, creating a comforting meal that brings people together in gratitude.





Classic Macaroni and Cheese Recipe:


Ingredients:


  • 16 oz elbow macaroni

  • 4 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 2 cups milk

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for a subtle smoky flavor)



Instructions:



  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  3. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes until smooth and golden.

  4. Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens (about 5 minutes).

  5. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Stir well.

  6. Remove the sauce from heat and add 3 cups of the shredded cheddar, stirring until melted and smooth.

  7. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring to combine.

  8. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar on top.

  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let it cool slightly before serving.
